Roomguide’s Romantic Top 5 Breaks
It’s not too late to book a romantic getaway with your partner and with Roomguide we’re sure you’ll find not only your ideal destination but a hotel you’ll both love. If you’re stuck for inspiration then look no further for our guide on the top romantic destinations to take your Valentine this year…
Oslo is the capital of Norway and although it might not be your first thought for a traditional romantic break at Roomguide we think it’s a great city to take your Valentine to. Average daytime temperatures in Oslo for February are -1.3C and so are a perfect excuse to wrap up warm and cuddle up with your loved one! Norway is usually turned into a winter wonderland at this time of the year with lots of snow so we think this would be a magical, romantic break! Why not take your loved one on a horse-drawn carriage ride or relax (and get warm) in one of Oslo’s many spas.
Bath is a beautiful city filled with stunning Georgian buildings and boasts Jane Austen as having been the city’s most famous resident. We’re sure that Bath will romantically inspire you as it did Jane Austen who wrote some of the most loved, romantic novels of the English language. Get into the Austen spirit and take an arm-in-arm stroll around Bath’s famous Royal Crescent. Be sure to visit The Pump Room restaurant for a romantic lunch. Bath has some fantastic shopping, with many boutiques, so do indulge in some shopping when you’re there and don’t forget to visit the Roman Baths (or if you fancy getting into a spa yourself, you’ll find lots to choose from in Bath…just don’t try and take a dip in the Roman Baths!)
Don’t buy your Valentine chocolates this year, take them to Brussels and indulge in some Belgian chocolates whilst you’re there! Brussels is filled with bars and cafés where you can enjoy a Belgian beer whilst listening to jazz bands and of course Belgian chocolates really will be abundant in Brussels so make sure you visit a chocolatier during your stay. The architecture of Brussels is stunning with many historical buildings but our pick is the Grand Place, a statuesque square, where you will find many free concerts, fairs, parades and pageants throughout the year.
Escape to the beach this Valentine’s Day with a break in a hotel in beautiful Newquay on the Cornish coast. We can’t promise the weather will suitable for lying on the beach with an ice cream, however, Newquay is a picturesque place to visit whatever the time of year. If you’re adventurous then you should make sure you indulge in some surfing as Newquay is regarded as the surf capital of the UK. Make sure you enjoy a famous Cornish cream tea and if you’re looking for something more lively for your Valentine, then the Newquay nightlife shouldn’t disappoint you- there’s something for everyone from chill out bars, traditional pubs, beachside café nightclubs and many venues have live music. Spend the morning after enjoying a stroll along the beach with a Cornish pasty or visit Newquay Zoo with your loved one. There are plenty of options and things to do in Newquay for your romantic break.
No romantic break guide would be complete without the inclusion of Paris, the city of lovers. Make sure you take your loved one for a walk to the Pont des Arts bridge where you will find ‘love locks’, padlocks inscribed with the initials of couples which are then locked onto the fencing of the Pont des Arts showcasing your love. Why not add your own initialized padlock? Of course, there’s always the Eiffel Tower to visit with your loved one and you should also visit Rodin’s ‘The Kiss’ sculpture and secret garden located on the Left Bank of the River Seine. We’re sure that whatever you decide to do in Paris you’ll both enjoy being in this truly romantic city.
We have lots of cheap hotels in Paris, so treat your Valentine with a romantic break or why not visit one of our other top picks?
